TRIM HUNGER is dedicated to wiping out hunger in America and won’t stop until every food bank and pantry, every public school lunch program, and every community outreach effort has enough food to go around. The Salon Professional Academy (TSPA) of Appleton WI and nationwide have organized fundraising efforts to bring awareness to the issue of feeding the hungry in America.

TRIM HUNGER, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to raising awareness and donations to address the issue of hunger in America. Through its affiliation with the nationwidebeauty school franchise The Salon Professional Academy and with the help of generouscorporate sponsors, TRIM HUNGER is igniting the passion to help those in need in the hearts ofbeauty professionals all across the country. “In an industry already focused on helping, giving, and transforming lives, TRIM HUNGER will have the limitless support of beauty schools, salons, spas, and manufacturers to provide nutritious meals for those greatest in need,” stated Josif Wittnik, the founder of TRIM HUNGER.

In 2014, Wittnik of Appleton, Wi., was introduced to frightening and saddening statistics regarding the number of people in his own community, including many children, who were goingwithout food each day. Motivated by this daily tragedy in his hometown, Josif, the co-owner of The Salon Professional Academy (TSPA) and Salon CTI, leveraged their reach and the caring hearts of the other salon owners, staff, and students to sponsor fundraisers. By the end of 2014, thousands of dollars were raised to help the local food bank provide meals to the community. Knowing that more needed to be done, both locally and across the United States, Josif brought this issue to the attention of executives with REDKEN 5th Avenue NYC and L’Oreal USA in January 2015. Since then, TRIM HUNGER continues to receive an outpouring of support from The Salon Professional Academy franchise and corporate sponsors including REDKEN, ESSIEAdidas, WOW Logistics, and Keller – planners, architects, builders.

Events will take place year round, culminating in a month-long effort in September (National Hunger Action Month) to raise funds and awareness for the hunger problem facing our country. On September 27th, TRIM HUNGER hopes to break the Guinness Book of World Records’ existing record for the most people cutting hair at the same time when 20 TRIM HUNGER Cut-A-Thons will be held simultaneously at The Salon Professional Academies (TSPAs) across the nation. The TSPA of Appleton, WI will be participating in the September 27th TRIM HUNGER Cut-a-Thon at their location, 3355 W. College Ave. from the hours of 10:00am-4:00pm. For additional details contact: 920-968-0433.

Essie, a corporate sponsor, will be offering their “Roarrrrange” nail shade as a symbol of supporting the fight against hunger. A dedicated grass-roots campaign through social media will be employed through the use of [hashtag] #orangethumbie. As part of a growing trend of painting thumbnails the official color of the cause they support, TRIM HUNGER participants will be invited to share a “selfie” on social media with their “orange thumbie.

For information on the future TRIM HUNGER outreach in local communities, please contact Josif Wittnik, TRIM HUNGER Founder, josif@trimhunger.com  or 920-450-0784.

Welcome to the Family: TSPA Georgetown

Please join us in welcoming TSPA Georgetown into The Salon Professional Academy Franchise family. As one of our newest locations, Shane & Tuesday Wilson anticipate TSPA Georgetown (a suburb north of Austin, TX) will open the end of this month.(September)

Shane and Tuesday are both native Texans who grew up in Southeast Texas. Shane graduated from Lamar University with a Kinesiology and Teaching degree. Tuesday graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Teaching degree. They have been married for 20 years with a sixteen year old daughter and a thirteen year old son.

Shane and Tuesday looked to leave teaching in public schools and open their own business. Shane started a home building business with a desire to own rental property. They happened upon opening a suite rental salon with the encouragement of Tuesday’s sister, who is a licensed cosmetologist. This gave them the rental property they wanted and it gave them an opportunity to empower individuals in the beauty industry to rent a small furnished suite without the huge overhead of being in business for themselves.

Tuesday saw the need for cosmetology in the local high school where she taught. After several unsuccessful attempts to get the school district to add the cosmetology program, Tuesday decided it was time to take matters into her own hands.   After some research, Tuesday discovered The Salon Professional Academy. The endorsement from the brand REDKEN was a large part of the attraction to TSPA, along with the integrity exhibited by the core group of SPEC [franchisor].   After traveling to an (sales event) in New York in 2010 and meeting the key professionals with TSPA, Shane and Tuesday were convinced that this was the right fit. The timing however was not right in 2010. Much prayer and waiting went into their decision to sign the franchise agreement in December 2013.

Shane and Tuesday are very excited to be in the position to help inspire and equip students with a skill that can open so many opportunities in their future.
